#MakokoLearns Literacy Project

BACKGROUND

Makoko is a waterfront community often referred to as the ‘Venice of Africa’ because of the poor living conditions. There are 3,500 children within the ages of 5-15 years in the neighborhood; 218 of them attend Whanniyah Primary School, the only school in the area.
