You know how you hear so much about a movie and how people go on and on about a movie and how fantastic the movie is……………..well that was my case with the book ODUFA (sigh).

I had heard so much about the book and the hype was just too much that I had a feeling that I was not going to enjoy the book. Some of my friends couldn’t stop preaching the gospel of ODUFA and it was beginning to annoy me that I named them the ODUFA STALKERS.

One boring afternoon, I was thinking about what to do with my life and I stumbled on this book. CHAI, this book had been in my drawer for more than 2 weeks and I didn’t bother readingggggggggggg but looking at the cute picture of the author on the back cover of the book encouraged me to read the book. And as the good Lord will have it; the book didn’t disappoint me (Hallelujah).

So the book Odufa is fiction (what else) and it is a book on Romance………..Love matter dey tire me.

It is about a young recent graduate Anthony Mukuro (very nice and likeable guy who is a writer and a poet) and this beautiful annoying undergraduate called Odufa (a girl that had small kolo)….Google kolo.

Ok so Anthony met Odufa through her younger sister Ulusi, who also liked him (in fact I would have advised him to date Ulusi if I knew where Anthony was living). It was a bit tough for Anthony to make a choice but he eventually picked Odufa (Jeez) and the love began to grow.

In this book, Anthony is the narrator.

Before he met Odufa, he was told by his doctor that he wouldn’t be able to father a child because of his health issues (he had so many health issues) but when Anthony came to Lagos and met Odufa, he saw her as his saviour.

Anthony and Odufa’s love was sooooooooooo strong, I have never seen that type of love before. In the book, we were told that Odufa had a past (I have always suspected that girl) but we were not told of what happened in her past. Anthony and Odufa were very good friends, became lovers and …………………..

The book is packed with suspense (I almost died of hypertension), very engaging, interesting and I even have a feeling the author must have experienced some of the things in the book.

The book is easy to read and there are a lot of romantic poems in it. If you are a lover of poetry you will like this book and if you don’t believe in love, it will teach you how to love. After reading this book, I really wanted to experience the type of strong love they had for each other.

Am not sure you will like Odufa’s mother cos I didn’t like her but I have a feeling you will like Imoh (Odufa’s younger brother). Then have I told you that Anthony has some interesting sisters too? Hmmmnnnnnnnn.

In summary, Odufa is a great book; it is an interesting read and also a must read. It is about a love turned sour, tribal differences and many more. It is the author’s first book so I think I will give it a 7/10.
